Housing Program Assistant

AGENCY SUMMARY:

The Link has provided education, supportive housing and a dynamic network of social services to at-risk youth in the Twin Cities for 20 years. Targeted programs reach out to youth and families when truancy, homelessness, or involvement in the juvenile legal system is putting youth at risk of not reaching their fullest potential.  The Link currently serves over 3,300 at-risk youth each year.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         High School diploma and one year equivalent experience, or Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s preferred.

·         Experience working with homeless or at-risk populations.

·         Knowledge of child welfare systems and community resources.

·         Ability to work effectively with and relate to diverse populations.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Ability to efficiently organize/coordinate, track and complete multiple tasks adjusting to changing priorities.

·         Computer application proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

·         Ability to use general office equipment (multi-line phones, copiers, fax machines, printers, etc.)

·         Ability to work 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

·         No criminal background.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Assist in the case management of assigned residents.

·         Create group curriculum and resident activities focusing on independent living skills, employment, social skills, health, recreation, etc.

·         Facilitate regular group activities at least weekly and maintain necessary documentation.

·         Review all case notes on assigned residents weekly with case manager.

·         Connects clients to community resources and activities.

·         Keeps updated records of all interactions with residents through daily logs and reports.

·         Reports to supervisor and other staff in regard to residents’ progress.

·         Provides one-to-one Health Realization training.

·         Monitors and assists residents in their daily activities and plans and provide support in pursuing goals.

·         Establish/maintain relationships with referring agencies, community/government agencies, etc.

·         Create safe and supportive relationships with residents.

·         Ensure that the residents are following the rules and that the tenancy requirements are met.

·         Answers phones and directs calls, assist with deliveries, etc. and perform general office duties as needed.

·         Assists with site visits, visitors, tours, and maintain guest log.

·         Cleans and organizes front desk and common areas.

·         Ensures building security.
